The actors do a pretty good job for the horror genre, the story works and overall it's enjoyable.

The impending sense of doom is so much more scary than trying to guess which hardware tool will be used for a torture scene, and I like that this film actually credits viewers with intelligence enough to follow the twist(s) and not dumb it down, not even for a for a wide theatrical release.

Thought being entertaining at most times, doesn't deserve more than five stars.

Anywise this movie is a waste of good time and money I would avoid it if only I knew.

Some 200 years ago, all of the cemeteries in Paris were filled to overflowing; the solution to this problem was to move the remains of 7,000,000 people to the empty underground tunnels on the outskirts of the city.

Good film and interesting storyline if a little predictable .

Sossamon is bland as the supposedly empathetic lead and Pink is repellent in her acting debut.

The whole thing looks like a dragged out version of a Tales From The Crypt episode - about 60 minutes too long.

It's as painfully boring as can be.

She gets away from him, literally wanders around in the dark for about a half hour where nothing happens and as she's just about to escape from the catacombs, the big nihilistic twist kicks in.

An unbelievable dull film given the atmospheric location and potentially scary set-up, Catacombs spends the majority of it 100 minutes following a scrawny, screaming Sossaman as she wanders aimlessly from tunnel to tunnel, rarely meeting anything more threatening than the odd bat or rat; on the few occasions that she does come face-to-goatmask with the film's killer, she simply screams a bit more and runs away.

So if you like horror/thriller movies, do not watch this, waste of time!

Once Victoria is trapped inside the underground labyrinth, "Catacombs" turns into an intolerably boring and irritating film.

Maybe I found these scenes so intense because I was high while watching the movie both times, dunno.

The catacombs to me are both fascinating and terrifying.

Thrilling .

It also would have been a lot better if it was a short film but with that said, it was entertaining for the most part and I guess that's supposed to be the first objective in film-making.

That dreary feeling that you've seen it all before....

All of this is tedious in the extreme, and by the end of the film one is left with the impression that we've been shown every last damn inch of the catacombs' 185 miles of tunnels—no need to include that one on the itinerary next time I'm in Paris!

While initially appearing to be something quite enjoyable, this here turned out to be a massive train-wreck.

Long and painfully slow.

But that's not the case : I give it a 2 only because of Pink's appearance, it was entertaining.

If they cut the runtime down to the length of a short film, this truly would have worked, but at full-length is just gets tiresome.

One of the most pointless films I have ever seen in my life.

Few things are as infuriating as great horror settings that are entirely wasted on trite scenarios.

Traveling to visit her sister in Paris, a woman gets dragged along to a party underneath the city streets in the infamous maze of dead bodies buried there only to find a legend of a masked madman true who begins relentlessly pursuing her through the darkened, twisting corridors.

What starts of like a decent movie turns out to be a bit boring.

I have to say that I found it very entertaining it was slow Starting out with Victoria (Played by Shannyn Sossamon a wonderful actress in my own opinion) going to meet her sister Carolyn(Singer Pink) in The beautiful city of Paris.

Yes, there was some gore, and it tried to have the up-beat punk style throughout, but in the end it's exactly what you've seen before: a boring horror rehash .

The scares are real and the pacin keeps you on the edge of your seat and the ending is far cooler and creepier.

I needed to know what it was and I wasn't disappointed, even if it was unexpected.

Sossamon's wandering around in the dark gets a little tedious--I fast forwarded through a few scenes.

The over-the-top grand finale is both hilarious, stupid and mildly fascinating.

Biggest waste of time I've ever watched, no wonder it was straight-to-DVD (at least to my knowledge it was).

This movie was thoroughly entertaining.

Its the journey you go on during the film that makes it enjoyable, the ending is not a major problem really.

HOWEVER it was interesting seeing pink acting, but it was a bit too bland and irritating.

waste of time .

IT was overwhelmingly predictable, the whole situation with Henri (when he attacks her after escaping)was predictable, and the April-fools style ending.

This movie does have some gore but is also scary and entertaining.

Most of the scenes are predictable.

So, from the get-go, the setting for this movie is fascinating and downright scary.

"Catacombs" is a strange film that was going very well until it's main character got lost in the cave; after that, it became a little boring and tiring to watch.

An Enjoyable watch .

This movie is slow and boring, the hectic editing of randomly creepy images is pointless, the soundtrack is god-awful and not a single one of the lead characters is even mildly amiable.

If you don't have a seizure in the first 30 minutes, then you will die of boredom during the next hour.

All is not as it seems, however, and the plot begins to diverge from the predictable, leading the viewer down a completely different path from what was expected, culminating in a delightfully twisted ending that completely turned what appeared to be a pedestrian schlock-fest on its head.

Throughout almost its entire playtime, "Catacombs" was destined to receive a rating 1 out of 10 from me, but then came the ending which suddenly brought an unexpected highpoint.

Awful waste of time .

The history of the Catacombs remains vague and having been to Paris and having French as my mother tongue I was a little insulted by the mere sweep Pink has to say about such a fascinating place.

Sure many people will argue about that, but seriously this movie is surely worth watching on midnight with the light off and volume up.

Put simply, Catacombs is crass, dull, monotonous, scare free, noisy and irritating.

But,honestly,it's a mediocre and a little bit repetitive movie.

and i gotta say, this thing is predictable almost from the get go,right to the end.

There are parts of Catacombs that are really bad, where every visual cliché from every heavy metal music video or horror movie of the last 10 years gets thrown onto the screen.

If you've never seen a horror movie before, you might find it exciting.

Don't waste your time.

I really enjoyed it and I absolutely would like to watch it again.

My only complaint though, it is,at times, a bit slow.

Some may feel the ending to be unsatisfying and weird but i enjoyed it very much.

It is intense, dreary, disturbing, scary, anxiety provoking and it went by very fast.

It almost makes up for the horrible acting, storyline and drab plot.

This goes on for 80 minutes and it's more boring than words can describe.

Intriguing Premise Goes Nowhere .

The worst movie I have seen this week - and it's Friday already.

Of course, as in any "scream" flick, there are always some cheezy and predictable parts, but overall, I found it entertaining.

sometimes it's the only way too keep from being completely bored.

) The basic idea of catacomb horror sounds promising, so it is quite frustrating to watch this tedious flick.

This movie was a waste of time.

This movie will have you literally on the edge of your seat wondering whats going to happen next.

Instead, she is a somewhat spooky and unpredictable party girl that (ab)uses her charisma to stir things up along with a whole bunch of VERY unreliable young men, all played by Romanian actors.

Maybe if you like so called horror movies made nowadays with no plot, then you might enjoy this movie.

I just watched The Blood Beast Terror (a no-budget sixties fossil from the Hammer wannabe Tigon Studios) and Catacombs (from the producers of the Saw movies, apparently) back to back and I remain utterly amused to report that The Blood Beast Terror tramples all over the newer effort for sheer entertainment value and (thankfully) sustaining a far lower level of crashing boredom-inducement.

All up, 'Catacombs' was a waste of time, money and effort.
