Anna Chlumsky, in this her film debut, delivered a first class performance as Vada, depicting the all the little nuances of the character from the confusion a tom-boy feels as she tentatively embraces her girly side in deference to her first crush to the desolation of bereavement to the loneliness she feels due to her father's thoughtless neglect.

Its a nice, slow, impactful, educational and an entertaining calm movie to enjoy on a Sunday night.

Most girls of eleven will probably empathise with Vada's views that nothing happens to boys!

Another aspect of this movie that I really like is that it's very innocent in comparison to most other coming of age stories that are produced these days.

But her upcoming summer is going to be anything but uneventful.

This is the kind of plot-less films that is more about things of your age, and it's a miracle that it managed to remain as captivating.

I give My Girl 10 out of 10 because it is a sweet movie and i think it's worth watching over and over again.

The cinematography is beautiful and the scenery is breathtaking.

Carmenjonze's First Law of Unwatchable Movies: the movie becomes more unwatchable in proportion to the number of flutes and violins in the score.

I watched this movie back in late nineteen ninety-two, and I really enjoyed it.

normal but enjoyable looking if you see what I mean.

That's how good it is, you know the intentions but you're ready to forgive them because a story needs to be good before being predictable.

This has got to be the worst movie I've ever seen!.

Imagine my surprise to discover a slow, unimaginative plot and wooden performances all around!

Overall this is a movie worth watching.

It was predictable.

Worth watching

This is a coming of age film about a girl named Vada, she is surrounded by death because her mother died in childbirth (and she blames herself) and her father is an undertaker who doesn't seem to have time for her nor listens to her (Dan Akroyd).

Boring .

And the characters who plays make the film very entertaining.

I think that My Girl is an excellent coming of age movie.

"My Girl" is a very good coming-of-age story that is entertaining, funny, heart-breaking and heart-warming all at the same time.

MY GIRL is one of the better coming of age films that were released around this era.

The film has its amusing moments, it has just enough charm, it has the alright coming of age stuff, it has the scene that will make a few people (not really me) cry, and it has the good title song by The Temptations, a quite nice romantic drama.

A coming of age story, set in the summer of 1972 about an eleven year old girl (Vada), her best friend (Thomas J.

My Girl (1991) *** (out of 4) Tender coming of age story about eleven-year-old Vada (Anna Chlumsky) who is trying to come to terms with herself while also dealing with her dad (Dan Aykroyd) dating for the first time after the death of her mother.

This was a waste of money to see in the theater and I urge everyone out there to see a REAL tearjerker like Ghost or The Cure instead of this sticky-sweet insult to good filmmaking.

Excellent coming of age movie ...

My Girl is nostalgic, funny, sad, hopeful and entertaining all at once, with great soundtrack and acting.

Over all, this movie was very enjoyable and touched me and hopefully it will touch anyone who watches it.

For me this movie was a little predictable since i saw the poster...

It's a coming of age movie.

My Girl is a really enjoyable film, one of the best coming-of-age films that I've ever seen.

This movie is an excellent "first drama" for pre-teen viewers, but is highly enjoyable for teens and adults, as well.

The most unbearable thing for Vada would be losing him, so she is absoulutly distraught when tragedy strikes!

Its a touching movie from my childhood and I enjoyed it.

sweetest coming of age story .

In conclusion, this movie really touched me and made me feel good, and I highly recommend it if you're a fan of Dan Aykroyd, Anna Chlumsky, Macaulay Culkin, or Jamie Lee Curtis.

This is definitely one of the best coming of age and family films out there, maybe because I haven't seen many.
