The script is cliché ridden and most of the acting from the American side is horrible.

all in all, i think its a movie that is worth watching.

The camera work was uninteresting.

There are huge factual errors making the thing nearly unwatchable.

The whole thing is so long and confusing and overly complex.

History aside, it was an enjoyable tale.

Sound bearing shots could be made but only if either the other ship were large and slow, offering a broadside, or there was a huge amount of good luck for the firing sub.

worth watching .

At well over 4 hours long, it is both thrilling and terrifying.

For a real intense submarine war story, you really need to see the 1981 German film "Das Boot", and even though 1957's "The Enemy Below", is not as compelling, it's certainly more realistic than this one.

I saw this very badly contrived, atrociously scripted and poorly directed waste of money 55 years later on DVD.

(or unexpected things) If only they wouldn't insist putting some love stories into war movies to make reasons for the men to try to stay alive.

Perhaps the main reason as to why this film is so difficult to watch is that it is boring, most of the time it delivers snippets of unimportant information and moves from scene to scene without any story progression or action.

This talented actor is stuck in a movie that's taking on water big time thanks to a predictable, leaden script, stilted direction and poor acting.

Rented this the other evening when the DVD shelves were basically empty.

This movie was a waste of time and electricity.

I highly recommend it 9/10.

Pure Rubbish, Don't waste your time.

The story is just awful, and pointless.

It is so predictable what happens after some yankees are captured to German u-boat.

I have only ever walked out on one movie (more to do with the surroundings at the theater, then the movie itself) and have stopped watching one at home.

This movie looked like it could be something, I've always loved u-boat movies, and it's been some time now since I found one worth watching.

Its very enjoyable from start to finish and will not fail to impress.

The acting was boring; some actors tried to hard to convey feeling (namely, Macy's wife), while others (Caan) didn't seem to try enough.
